Please join us this Saturday, October 19th for Grida X Talk Show: Emergency Issue Release Party. For this event, Talk Show Screenings has collaborated with Grida, a pseudonym-based, independently run and distributed newspaper. Together, we will be hosting an evening that unites artists, makers, authors, musicians, and costume connoisseurs in one space.

Grida is launching its “Emergency Issue," an urgently-made edition from July co-edited by artist Monica Albornoz, who had been applying for an artist visa to stay in the U.S. Grida will also be distributing its first issue from May, alongside a subscription list and further information about the newspaper.

The night will begin with a brief conference, an introduction by Jerry Ostero of Grida, followed by a reading by acclaimed writer, artist, and activist Quintan Ana Wikswo.

We have five DJs on the roster for the remainder of the evening including DJ Richard Nixon, DJ Queue, DJ Sir, DJ Sonika, and DJ Trinity.

Surrounding the dance floor will be artists working in various fields. Erin Morris will be making sculptures out of bread to feed the party. Apparel and merch by Spake and Sunday Collect will be for sale, as well as embroidered patches by Xyrus Blaze and a publication by Tyler Berrier.

There will be a sliding scale $10 donation at the door and a recitation of basic agreements toward making the party a safe environment. Drinks and snacks will be available throughout the evening.  The festivities at Talk Show will end sharply at midnight and continue on to Honey’s wine cellar a few blocks away for an afterparty with DJ Sonika.
